Beginning of Duologue Journey

We will be doing this duologue called 'The Odd Couple'.It is a contemporary play written by Neil Simon, and it is one of his greatest plays. It was 1st published in 1965 and it was a comedy hit!

*We will not be doing the entire play due to limited time.So we will be doing only from the start until somewhere in the middle.

The story talks about the interesting life of 2 men, Felix and Joe, who happened to be living under the same roof, but had always been having minor disputes.Oscar in particular is the incredibly sloppy but emotionally grounded sportswriter who allows his heartbroken poker buddy to move in with him. As the hypochondriac and neat freak Felix, he seems to be always doing the house chores and just couldnt stand being dirty.

In this scene, Oscar seems to be the one who always try to disturb Felix in some way or another. The 1st 1.5 minutes of the play will be actions only, and no dialogue. This is to create the tension between the 2 characters. The rest of the play will talk about the arguments they had with things like Money issue(rent fees) and space issue(the space they want for themselves in the house). At the ending part of the scene, Felix being the more softhearted and patient guy, went on to persuade Oscar on why his behaviour was as such. And the stiry goes...

This story is meant to be comedic. Thats waht i think when i 1st read the script.I get this feeling that Oscar is someone very 'naughty' and up to mischief, while Felix is the one who often get things sort out well. The story talks of friendship, frustration over friends and the patching up of things. We will be able to do this duologue well enough! We hope so!
